River? Who's River? And what, were he capable of speech, would Ken say? In the My Scene line of dolls for pre-teen girls, Barbie has cast off her more career-minded incarnations (veterinarian, astronaut, and so on) and has been recast as a boy-crazy teenager with a beau named River. Barbie wears a sequined skirt, a black denim top with a sheer dress shirt underneath, topped off with a neck tie. Her makeup is more aggressive, making her look more like on of the Lil Bratz, or possibly early-career Christina Aguilera, than the Barbie we've come to know over the years. River dons pinstriped pants, a black jacket, and a paisley shirt and has a huge shock of dark brown hair. We know that wherever he is Ken is probably smiling but that's only because Ken is always smiling. Inside, we know he must be hurting. --Charlie Williams
